Common questions
What do YMCKO and YMCKOK mean?
These are ribbon codes showing the print panels:
- Y = Yellow
- M = Magenta
- C = Cyan
- K = Black (used for text/barcodes)
- O = Overlay (protective layer)
YMCKO is for single-sided color printing.
YMCKOK adds a second black panel for printing on the back.
Some ribbons are just K—used for black-only printing.
How do I find the right ribbon for my printer?
Type your printer model in the search box at the top of this page, or tap your printer’s brand. Every ribbon lists the printers it fits. Still unsure? Email Sales@Bodno.com and we’ll confirm it for you.
How many prints do these ribbons produce?
It depends on the ribbon: color ribbons print 100 to 750 single-sided cards per roll, and black ribbons up to 2,500. The print count is in each ribbon’s name. Printing color on both sides of a card uses two sets of panels.
Do I need a retransfer film?
Only for retransfer printers, such as the Fargo HDP5000, HDP5000e and HDP6600 and the Seaory R330 and R660. They print onto a clear film and then fuse it onto the card, so they need both a ribbon and a film.
How long do color ribbons last if unopened?
Unopened ribbons can last 18–24 months when stored properly. Keep them sealed in original packaging, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight or humidity to preserve print quality.
