NFC card printing, explained
What is NFC card printing?
NFC card printing is two jobs in one: printing your design on a plastic card and writing data to the small NFC chip inside it. When someone taps the card on a phone, the chip opens a web page, shares contact details or checks them in. With an NFC card printer and encoder in your office, you design, print and encode every card yourself, the day you need it, instead of ordering from a print shop and waiting.
What you need to print NFC cards
- An ID card printer. The Seaory S28 in our bundle prints full color on both sides of the card and includes Bodno ID Card Software on a lifetime license.
- A smart card encoder. The OmniKey 5127CK encoder installs in the printer, so each card is encoded and printed without handling it twice. Bodno A-Series printers take the matching A-Series Smart Card Encoder.
- Platinum Edition software. Bodno ID Card Software Platinum Edition adds the NFC encoding wizard. Encoding runs on Windows.
- Blank NFC cards. Bodno NTAG213 NFC cards are standard CR80 PVC cards, the size of a credit card, with the chip built in.
Why print NFC cards in-house
Ordering NFC cards from a vendor means minimum quantities, proofs and a wait every time someone new joins. Printing them yourself means one card at a time, when you need it, and a replacement in a few minutes when one is lost. NTAG213 chips can be rewritten until they are locked, so you can point a card at a new link later instead of printing a new one.
