How many cards does one Bodno A5500 Color Ribbon print?
500 single-sided cards per ribbon. If you print on both sides of a card, each card uses two prints, so one ribbon makes 250 two-sided cards.
How many ribbons do I need?
For 500 cards you need 1 ribbon, and for 1,000 cards you need 2, printing on one side. Use the calculator above for your exact number.
What does YMCKO mean on this ribbon?
Y, M and C (yellow, magenta and cyan) print the full-color picture. K prints sharp black text and barcodes. O lays a clear overlay over the card to protect it. Together they print full color on one side of the card.

Which printers take the A5500?
The A40 Pro only. It is the 500-print ribbon for the A40 Pro, which can also use the 300-print A5300.
I get Error 48 after putting in a new ribbon. What do I do?
Error 48 means the printer could not read the marks on the ribbon, and it is almost never a broken printer. Reseat the ribbon flat and not wound tight, check the gear on the spool for missing teeth, then recalibrate the ribbon sensor with the ribbon out and the cover closed: Printing Preferences › Tool › Calibrate Ribbon LED. Why does my ribbon keep tearing?
If the printer’s test chart tears it too, the print is running past the card edge, so reset Position Calibrate to factory default. If only your design tears it, turn on Rotate 180° and add a light border so solid dark color does not run off the card edge. Still tearing? Ease ribbon tension to −3 and check the spool gear for missing teeth. Full guide: Ribbon tearing or sticking.
Why do black backgrounds print with colored lines?
Large solid dark areas are the hardest thing for any direct-to-card printer. Ease ribbon tension to −3, try Rotate 180°, and lighten the background slightly if you can. More fixes: Streaks, faded or off colors.
Can I run a card through the printer twice?
No. A card that has been through the printer has a clear protective layer on it even if it looks blank, and the ribbon will stick to it and tear.
Should I clean the printer when I change the ribbon?
Yes. Run a cleaning card whenever you change a color ribbon, and any time prints start to look dull. The BB001 cleaning kit has the card, swab and cloth.
How long do color ribbons last if unopened?
Unopened ribbons can last 18–24 months when stored properly. Keep them sealed in original packaging, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight or humidity to preserve print quality.
