Your Bodno license moves with you. You use the same activation code on the new computer, and there is nothing new to buy. The only rule: a license runs on one computer at a time, so it has to be turned off on the old computer before it turns on on the new one.
On the old computer: BOD › Bodno License › Activation Code and click Deactivate. On the new computer: install the latest Bodno, go to the same place, paste the code and click Activate. Old computer dead or wiped? Email us the code and we release it for you.
Before you start
- Find your activation code. It has five groups of four letters and numbers, like ABCD-1234-EFGH-5678-IJKL. It is in the software under BOD › Bodno License › Activation Code and in the email you got when you registered. Lost it? Find my activation code.
- Copy your card designs and Excel files from the old computer to a USB stick or shared drive. They are files on that computer; the license does not carry them over.
If the old computer still works
Open Bodno and click BOD in the top-left corner.
Click Deactivate and wait for the message that it worked. Then close Bodno.
Open Bodno on the new computer and go to:
Paste your code and click Activate.
Close Bodno, open it again, open one of your designs and print a card. No Bodno watermark means you are done.
If the old computer is dead, wiped or gone
You cannot deactivate a computer you cannot open, so we do it for you. Email support@bodno.com your activation code (a photo of it is fine). We release it from the old computer, usually the same business day. When we confirm, wait 30 to 60 minutes, then activate the code on the new computer (steps 2 to 4 above).
Releases are tracked and limited, so deactivate it yourself whenever the old computer still turns on. The same goes for reformatting a computer, renaming it or replacing its hard drive: deactivate before, activate after.
Messages you might see
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "License maximum activations reached" | The code is still active on the old computer | Deactivate it there, or email us to release it |
| The software opens in Demonstration mode and prints a watermark | The license is not active on this computer, or it cannot reach the license server | Read Demo mode and watermark fixes |
| A "security update" message when you enter the code | The installed version is too old | Install the latest version (step 2), then activate again |
| Activates at home but not at the office | The office firewall blocks the license check | Send your IT team the firewall settings |
Old USB license key
Some older printers came with a USB key instead of a code. Install the latest Bodno on the new computer, then plug the key in. You can check a USB key on the license status page (its number starts with CC). USB keys are no longer sold and cannot be renewed; when yours runs out, you switch to an activation code and your designs stay.
Send these with your first message
We can usually release a license the same day when we have these up front.
- Your activation code (or a photo of it)
- Your order number or the printer serial number
- Whether the new computer is Windows or Mac
- A screenshot of any error message
