A Magicard that shows "Cleaning due", error 27, a flashing cleaning light, or prints specks and lines is asking to be cleaned. It takes about two minutes with a cleaning card. Magicard recommends cleaning every 700 cards or at every ribbon change, whichever comes first.
Take the ribbon out, start the cleaning from the printer (or the driver on the Pronto), and feed a new cleaning card when it asks. Find your model below.
Start the cleaning on your model
| Printer | How to start a cleaning |
|---|---|
| Magicard Pronto | Take out the ribbon and leave the lid open. On the computer, open the driver's Printing Preferences, go to the Printer tab and click Clean the Printer. Put the narrow end of a new cleaning card into the front card slot. The printer pulls it in, cleans the rollers and pushes it back out. For a better clean, turn the card over and run it again. |
| Magicard Pronto 100 and 250X | Open the lid and press the button 2 times quickly. The printer starts its cleaning routine; feed the cleaning card when the light flashes. |
| Magicard 300 and 400X | On the printer, press Menu and scroll to Clean Rollers. Follow the screen: take out the cards and the ribbon, and insert the cleaning card when the screen says Insert Cleaning Card now. |
| Other Magicard models | Open your printer's support page for its cleaning steps, or call us. |
When to clean
- Every 700 cards or at every ribbon change, whichever comes first.
- Right away if you see specks, dots or lines on your cards.
- After a card jam.
- When the printer shows Cleaning due (error 27 on the Magicard 300) or the cleaning light flashes.
A dirty main roller makes the card slip and the ribbon tear. Clean the printer first. If the roller still looks stained, turn the printer off, press a strip of clear tape along the roller and peel it off. A ribbon that already tore can be taped and keeps printing.
