Why We’re Moving from USB Dongles to Activation Codes

If you’re here because your Bodno USB dongle license shows “expired” or “suspended,” you’re in the right place! Over the past year, we’ve been transitioning away from USB dongles in favor of a simpler, more flexible solution: activation codes. Here’s everything you need to know about why we made this change, what it means for your software, and how to stay up and running.

What Happened to USB Dongle Licenses?

Bodno USB dongle licenses were designed with a clear 5-year lifespan. After five years, the dongle’s license automatically expires. If you’re seeing an error message such as “expired” or “suspended,” it’s because your USB dongle has reached that expiration point.

In response, we’ve updated our licensing approach to offer more flexibility and ease of use. Moving forward, all Bodno software licenses will use activation codes instead of USB dongles. USB dongles are no longer supported or sold, and licenses provided via USB were always clearly indicated as 5-year licenses.

What Are Activation Codes, and How Do They Work?

Activation codes are digital keys that allow you to access Bodno software without needing a physical dongle. This means no more plugging in a USB or worrying about hardware compatibility—just an easy-to-use code that works directly with your software.

Here’s how the new activation codes compare clearly:

• Monthly Subscription:
  The most flexible option, allowing you to pay as you go and cancel anytime. Your software remains active as long as your subscription is current.

• Yearly Subscription:
  Ideal for long-term users, the yearly option provides uninterrupted access for a full year and renews automatically each year.

• One-Time Activation Code:
  This one-time payment grants you uninterrupted access to the software for a full 3 years, regardless of when you originally purchased your printer.
