A Quick Comparison Between the Magicard 300 and Magicard 600

Magicard printers offer a great lineup of ID card printers to satisfy the needs of every type of establishment. Two of the most popular Magicard printers that deliver impressive performance in any printing environment are Magicard 300 and Magicard 600. Below is a quick look at the similarities and differences between the two in order to help you choose ID card printer that best suits your needs.

Magicard 300 vs. Magicard 600

The print quality of both Magicard printers is exceptional. They offer 300 x 300 dpi resolution for single-sided printing and 600 x 300 for dual-sided ID card printing. This print resolution is enough for crisp and clear text and image printing. Both Magicard 300 and Magicard 600 feature an optimized color profile technology, which helps to reduce waste and manage demanding printing jobs with ease. Both models have the capability of dual-sided printing.

Magicard 300 can deliver around 720 single-sided monochrome cards or up to 160 full-color single-sided ID cards in an hour. Magicard 600 can give you better yield in terms of color ID card printing. It can print around 190 full-color single-sided ID cards in an hour. However, the print speeds for monochrome card printing is almost the same. Both the Magicard printers come with a 100-card input hopper and a 70-card stacker capacity. The card capacity can be increased using Magicard extensions as well.

Magicard 300 and Magicard 600 come with excellent built-in security features as well, which will be enough to protect the data printed on your ID cards. One of the most important security features in the Magicard printers is the Digital Shredding™ technology, which will irrecoverably fragment ID card data. The ID card printers also come with Magicard’s HoloKote® feature, which allows you to print visual watermarks on your ID cards and badges.

Both Magicard printers support printing ISO 7811 standard magnetic stripes with HiCo encoding as well as Mifare, iClass, Desfire, and contact chip smart cards. However, these encoding features are available only as upgrades for Magicard 300 and Magicard 600. Note that Magicard 300 supports only Ethernet connectivity, while Magicard 600 supports wireless connectivity as well. This gives Magicard 600 a slight upper hand in terms of usefulness.

The major difference between Magicard 300 and Magicard 600 comes in terms of their pricing. Magicard 300 is more affordable than Magicard 600, but it merely falls short in offering similar features. However, the significant price gap of around $800 between the two can be a big deal for both small businesses as well as individual users.
